Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE)
In October 2015 British Athletics invited Tom to join the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence programme (AASE).
Tom enrolled on the course and attended sessions at both Loughborough and Bath throughout 2016. The course elements are complete and the awards should be made early to mid 2017.
AASE sessions cover subjects such as Nutrition, Sports Psychology, Social Media and Anti Drugs/Clean Sport.
According to the Skills Active website 'Skills Active works with NGBs (National Governing Bodies) and Sport England to develop sport specific entry requirements, ensuring the most talented athletes are selected for the programme' ... 'The Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) is a sports performance programme. It provides a structured training and development route across a number of sports for talented young athletes (aged 16-19) who have a real chance of excelling in their sport; either by competing on the world stage or securing a professional contract'
Looking at Tom's 2016 and 2017 performances it appears that he has provided a good return on the investment !
Tom has been further recognised by British Athletics as part of the 2017 Futures Programme.
