Tom is very grateful to all his supporters who help make his dreams come true.  Tom has been very fortunate to receive support for 2017 through a number of prestigious and sought after awards, including:

British Athletics Futures Programme  @BritAthletics

Ron Pickering Memorial Fund   @RunForRon

In March Tom was awarded an Elite Athlete Grant from Wiltshire's Funding Future Olympians & Paralympians Programme. These grants are gratefully funded by local businesses and organisations for athletes competing at International or National level.   Sports Scholarships are also available for Junior athletes.    #FFOP

Wiltshire Council also provide Tom with support via the FACTS programme. Tom receives free Gym and Swim facilities to help support his overall strength and conditioning training. Eligibility and Application details can be found via the below link.

In May Tom was awarded a grant from the Doing it for Dan charity.  Doing it for Dan was set up in memory of 11 year old Daniel Climance who was tragically killed on 10th June 2015 when he collided with a road sweeper whilst out riding his bike.  Doing it for Dan has been set up to encourage children and young adults to engage and parcicipate in sport and lieisure activities by awarding grants to individuals and organisations in Wiltshire and its surrounding areas.

In August Tom was awarded a grant from the Joanna Brown Trust.  The aim of The Joanna Brown Trust is to encourage involvement in sport. To provide people with an opportunity to experience sport and excel in it. 100% of all the money raised goes directly to our cause and sporting projects.

2016/17 - TASS

The Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) supported Tom during 2016 whilst he was completing his A level studies.  TASS is a Sport England funded partnership between talented athletes, education institutions and national governing bodies.    TASS provides a number of services to support athletes, including Strength and Conditioning, Physiotherapy, Nutrition and advice on how to manage a dual career as a student and athlete.  Tom was a finalist in the 2017  TASS Stars Awards having been nominated for the Star of the Year award.

In July 2016 WAA kindly provided Tom with a bursary to support his ongoing development and help pay for competition expenses.

Unlike many sports, Track and Field athletics in the UK does not attract high levels of financial sponsorship for athletes.

A 2016 survey has shown the average cost to fund an elite junior athlete is £6,500 per year. This was certainly true for Tom in 2016 and 2017 will see even higher (no pun intended) costs.    If you would like to support Tom please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
